So how does your resume measure up? Could someone guess your age just by looking at it? If you’re a mature worker, this is something you need to consider. Sure, no one is supposed to be discriminated against in the workplace on the basis of age, but hiring managers are human beings, and prone to making unconscious decisions based on the perceived age of a resume submitter. What can you do?
One important thing to look at when you are looking for paid survey sites is to make that they really pay. Find out if the members are really getting paid. One way to investigate this is by checking out the member forum of the site. Take a look and see for yourself if the members are receiving their money and if they are happy with the site. If that is the case you can be assured that you will receive your payment.
High School Education: What if you never went to college? In the past, it wasn’t unusual for people to graduate from high school, then work their way up through a company over the years, ending up in high-level jobs. If this is true of you, and if you graduated from high school over 20 years ago, there’s no need to mention it at all. Instead, have a section called “Professional Development,” where you list all the various courses and seminars you’ve done over the years related to the positions you held, and hopefully relevant to the position you’re applying for.
Most job search sites require you to enter in a search word or phrase. It you want to work in retail and it does not matter if you work as a cashier, stocker, customer service agent, sales person, or manager – search with “retail.” This type of search will pull up all retail jobs. If you are looking for specific jobs hiring now, search with the job title in question. For example, if you were to search with “retail manager,” you will only see retail management job openings, such as those for store managers, assistant managers, and team leaders.
Pause. Short, frequent breaks are more refreshing than one long one. Every hour, give yourself a half-minute vacation by taking six slow, even breaths. These mini-breaks throughout the day will help you feel significantly more relaxed, focused, and energized. If you work at a computer, mini-breaks rest your eyes and help prevent repetitive stress syndrome as well.
Republicans had majorities in both Houses of Congress that allowed them to do, pretty much, whatever they wanted, and they did so over the objections of Demorcats across the board! Now we have another Democratic Administration with majorities in both houses. The last time this happened was the 8 years that Bill Clinton used to clean up the messes made by the previous 2 Republican Administrations. The “Clean-Up” operations are getting more and more “Industrial Strength” as time passes and the Democratic Party has now become the Republican’s janitor again.
However, this is good because it gives you, the applicant, the means to write your resume to fit that hiring manager’s needs. All you have to do is see that the requisite skills and tools necessary are in the Experience section of the resume.
