Cook and Hopkins Social Media Report – 3rd Edition

AlexBy Alex Manchester, Editor, The Internal Comms Hub (Australia), Melcrum

Lee Hopkins and co-author Trevor Cook have published the 3rd Edition of their widely-read Social Media report.

Updated and focusing more on the business implementation of social media tools, rapidly becoming known as "Enterprise 2.0", every section of the report has "either been written from scratch or ferociously updated".

Content is as follows:

• Introduction
• Australian organisations: the state of play
• Enterprise2.0
• A note on strategy
• Why blog?
• Web feeds (RSS and other geeky stuff)
• Some corporate blog examples
• Podcasting for business
• Twitter and Jaiku
• Facebook
• Second Life and 3D virtual worlds
• Wikis
• Blog writing tips
• Where to go to get started
• Want more help?

Since opening the new Melcrum office in Australia in June 2007, we've worked with Lee a fair bit, including social media workshops and a short report on podcasting. His passion for and knowledge of this topic is fantastic.

Trevor Cook also writes an excellent blog and a column for one of the national newspapers here. Together, they make the decision of buying the report a no-brainer, especially as it'll cost a grand total of.... zero cents.
