Let's mark International Communicators' Day
Anyone care to take a guess at what's particularly special about today? No, it being Cameron Diaz's birthday isn't really much of a talking point. And sorry, the anniversary of Cleopatra's suicide isn't what I'm thinking of. Nope, today is in fact, er, "National Marshmallow Toasting Day"! (Phew, now I know what to have for lunch.)
It got me thinking, if even marshmallows can have their own day of celebration, what's stopping internal communicators doing the same? A brief rummage around the web showed up other communication-related days, such as "World Communications Day" and "National Boss Day" (it's October 16 for any brown-nosers out there) but I didn't spot any instances of International Communicators' Day, or an International Internal Communicators' Day, and I don't recall having heard/seen the idea being discussed recently.
So, I propose a campaign to put this day in our calendars. Question is, which day is most appropriate? Suggestions please. Roger D'Aprix's birthday?

Why not the same day as Melcrum's Birthday, the 22nd August? But I would say that wouldn't I!

If not Melcrum's birthday, then The Hub's birthday - October 10th? But then I would say that as well, wouldn't I!

Many factors to consider here really!
I definitely think that with the great job Internal comms people do that it should have it's own day.
My suggestion would be 8th June because this is Sir Tim Berners-Lee's birthday (father of the World Wide Web) and without the web, we wouldn't be able to communicate over email etc.

I agree with 8 June. This is a great idea! The WWW means something to most people.
