Keeping on message with employee videos

Online video was the most popular of all technologies featured in our 2007 survey on social media (Press release) and subsequent report (Exec Summary PDF).

Given the ubiquitous use of video in business, not to mention the widespread takeup of video sharing sites like YouTube, in hindsight it wasn't too much of a surprise. There's clearly a lot that can be done with video these days without spending thousands, but as with a corporate blog, or other social media, you still need to make sure it's being done to the benefit and not detriment of your organization.

Over at his excellent Intraskope blog Aniisu posts some tips on getting the best out of employee videos (created by employees for other employees), including keeping a focus on key messages, defining the context, and ensuring language is kept generic and slang-free to avoid confusion.

Read the complete list here.

Also while we're on the topic of video, following our Lee Hopkins interview, there's a lot of interest in doing more of these type of clips, but I think the video quality and program I used could be improved. Does anyone have any recommendations on camera and software?
