The things CEOs come out with...Part Two

As a follow up to an earlier post titled The things CEOs come out with... that highlighted the often ridiculous gaffes from our normally dependable CEOs.

One more to add to the list:

Melcrum Blog-regular, Stuart Rose, CEO of UK Retailer Marks & Spencers quoted last year commenting on the woes experienced by fellow retailers blaming the great British weather for a downturn in sales:

"Weather is for wimps."

Yesterday, Rose was forced to back-track furiously as he reported a weather-related sales slow-down:

"I know I said weather is for wimps but we didn't anticipate people going shopping in boats. Ordinary weather is for wimps, but this is more serious. There's not many girls rushing out to buy hot-pants and T-shirts, but we've sold a lot of formal wear, umbrellas and rain coats and quite a few galoshes."

Thanks to the Financial Times for the story.

Robin.
