The Communicators' Network goes live
The Communicators’ Network is now live and open for business, so don’t walk, run to have a look, try it out and let us know what you think.
So, “what is it?” I hear you say. The Communicators’ Network is a new online global community for professional communicators, that’s free to join.
Based on the ever-popular listserv The CommsNetwork, which is run over e-mail, this is a 21st century social networking tool that allows you to connect with communicators working on the same challenges as you. You'll get answers to your questions and find the best resources available quickly, easily and for free.
Our mantra in designing and building the site was:
1. Keep it simple: it’s really quick to sign up (90 seconds or less to complete the minimum required info), really easy to invite other people to join, really easy to join a group or discussion, really easy to start a blog or to include feeds from external blogs, and really easy to search and find stuff.
2. Don’t annoy people: we won’t bombard you with e-mail. Virtually all communication is done on the site and we have chosen not to activate instant messenger, meaning no unwanted interruptions from people you don’t know.
3. Strictly business: this is designed as a place for business. Serious conversations to help people do their jobs. No chit-chat. A place for communicators to work and get answers to their questions.
4. By communicators, for communicators: this is not one big pitch for Melcrum. Our discussion forums are led by experts, leading consultants and practitioners. Melcrum moderates where necessary only. The content is user-generated. The events listed are anyone’s, not just Melcrum’s. The resources linked to are third-party, not just Melcrum’s. Why? Because the site is created for the benefit of communicators, not Melcrum.
And the best bit. This is just the beginning. We will be releasing additional functionality over the coming months, like ratings and reviews, video and audio galleries, and buyers-sellers classifieds. Right now, our goal is to get you using the site and telling us what you like and don’t like and how else we can develop the site to meet your needs.
We’re listening. So sign up now and post some feedback on the general discussion area.
See you on The Network.
Robin.
