Alan Johnson? He's down with it, man.
I know, I know, less social media – more comms is the cry of our readers, but I couldn't resist this one! According to The Guardian Alan Johnson is using twitter as part of his political campaign to become deputy leader of the UK Labour party. Of course, he probably thinks he'll gain public trust, and the vote of generation Y. But do you see where I'm going with this? MP/CEO, Public trust/employee trust?
Anyway, let's let him be the guinea pig of this modern strategy and see how it goes!

Sona
I may be crying out for a few less unsocial media postings - but you've got me sold on anything that includes a picture of a g-pig.

Ok who stole the idea from who: Alan Johnson or US presidential hopeful Barack Obama, who's also using Twitter?
At the time of writing, the latest update on Obama's page reads, "Thinking the President’s word is not the last word on Iraq." Quite interesting to gain regular insight into the mind of a president-elect don't you think?
Now, if Obama did get in to the White House, would he have to stop Twittering about his whereabouts in the name of national security?

"OK who stole the idea from who"
I had the idea for Alan to Twitter back in January, but John Edwards was actually the first to do it:

Hi Stuart,
It's great to see your comment here. Can you tell us what the idea behind using Twitter was for Alan Johnson's campaign, and what sort of success you've seen with it?
Also, it throws up an interesting connection - your blog post with the Twitter idea was on the 6th January, and Edwards' Twitter page started on the 8th January. Is there any connection there at all?
Alex
