Social Media Forum: Full circle

A few days on from the Social Media Forum, and it's interesting to watch how the event has percolated down through the blogosphere. This contribution from Aussie social media blog Breakaway Content was typical;

I interviewed some IBM-ers for the first in an upcoming series of case study podcasts about companies that are using social media. I was interested, therefore, in Debbie Weil’s post about IBM’s competition for staff to come up with videos explaining the company’s new slogan, “Innovation that Matters”. Some of the videos are on YouTube. Quoting a presentation by IBM PR honcho Philippe Borremans, Debbie says that “within a month, 520 videos were created and uploaded from employees in 29 countries."

Borreman also told the Social Media Forum that IBM is using blogs, wikis and RSS because they really believe in “the wisdom of crowds”, not because blogging is “cool” or because IBM is a tech company, Debbie reports.
